As such, the recent news of a new tower for Westferry will only serve to increase the popularity of this area.
On 29th July 2019, breaking news revealed Sisk picked for Westferry tower. John Sisk & Son is a well-known construction company that’s carried out many builds throughout the London area. They’ve signed a pre-construction services contract that states they will build a brand new 30-storey tower just a stone’s throw away from the bustling Canary Wharf district.

NEW TOWER FOR WESTFERRY!
Construction Beginning Autumn 2019
Construction of this massive tower is believed to begin during Autumn of this year. The precise date hasn’t been given, but current estimates think we should see some work on the ground towards October time. The tower itself will be constructed at 82 West India Dock Road. This places it in an incredible location, mere minutes away from the Westferry DLR station. From here, you have good access to transport routes across Canary Wharf and the nearby area, with the rest of the London Underground not far away.
A Mixed-Use Development
Sisk is taking charge of the project to bring a mixed-use development to the busy East London area. This new tower in Westferry will primarily be made up of a hotel. The initial plans state there will be a 400 bedroom hotel, along with private flats.
In total, there will be 66 incredibly gorgeous flats, with 23 of them being labelled as affordable in perpetuity for local families. This is good news for the residents of London as it helps bring some new affordable housing to the area. Either way, the introduction of a new hotel and flats will undoubtedly breathe new life into the tourism sector in Westferry.
The regional director of Sisk is keen to get started and show what the company is capable of. He’s made a clear effort to communicate with the local community to help build something that reflects the area and helps it flourish. Sisk is also proud to display all of it’s new and innovative construction techniques, with an emphasis on accurate digital technology. While good aesthetic appeal is definitely in mind, the main focus of this project is safety. Sisk wants to build a tower that’s safe for everyone inside. No corners will be cut, and only the best and most reliable materials will be used during the construction. This will ensure that Westferry has a beautiful tower for many years to come. Mockup pictures of the proposed development are incredibly eye-catching. The tower will certainly make an excellent addition to the already impressive skyline in East London. The build duration is not yet known, but we don’t expect to see this tower anytime soon. Once again, construction is believed to begin in Autumn, and Sisk is the lucky party chosen to spearhead one of London’s most exciting new developments.
